International Men's Day

International Men's Day

These themed days come round quickly right! Hahaha. Well this one seems to come with a powerful message. This International Men's Day male suicide has been the talking point. While I am not a fan of the male female divide or age groups or any of that stuff. I feel like it often leads to more of a disconnect from those outside the identified rather than an extra connection with those in the group. My view, is that it's more exclusive than inclusive. But that's me.

Anywho, moving on...

It is great to see more people talking about male suicide I am really pleased. Self harm and suicide are taboo subjects regardless of gender. But given the subject and the gender, we all know us males find it hard talking about feelings and emotions. So how hard do you think it'll be for a guy who's knew you for years to talk about these feelings his been having, that in fact he has even had moments when he questions whether his life is worth living. Whether those around him would actually be better off without him. Whether he can continue with his life.

These are just a small part of the thoughts that can occupy our minds. It is for this reason that I'm pleased to see more people talking about male suicide. Because talking helps, listening helps, being there helps.

Suicide is the biggest killer of males under 50 in the UK. It's time to change, its time to talk!
